When I think of home, I think of a place where there’s love overflowing… The Wiz An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity. Martin Luther King, Jr. For most of us home is where we grew up, our family and our long time friends. Many of us have had to create our own homes, made of up a Hodge podge assortment of people who love us in spite of our flaws and failings. As we get older, our friends and family leave us to go back to our true home. This message is for those of us who have always felt lost, pissed off or confused about this world we now call HOME. Some of us KNOW and have always known this is not HOME. That this place of hate, dis-ease, treachery, betrayal and sorrow is not really our home. That this world, like Oz, it is only make believe. But the make believe has been created to SEE if we have the faith, the courage and the inspiration to See more, Do MORE and BE MORE than mere appearance dictates. To make the best of a truly bad situation, we endeavor to find and work our way to a space within our own hearts and souls that “feels like home” to us.
History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people. Martin Luther King, Jr. This journey will bring us in contact with many new ideas, challenge our believes about ourselves and force us to grow into actual HUMAN beings, not selfish, self centered, greedy as the news would have you think we all are. Most of us are not that way at all. But the silent majority must now SPEAK up and SPEAK out for what is right and TRUE. We must defend those who are just as worthy as anyone else, but due to life circumstances are not in the best places, either physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually. Some of us remember a space of timeless beauty where none of us knew the word WANT, for all our needs were met, instantly. We are the ones who came here under protest, and these protests continue with many of our warriors now lost to drugs and alcohol. I understand completely why they choose that path. Had I more sense, it would be a path I would have chosen. Because THIS path, has been no cakewalk! And while not “technically” thrown to the wolves (but damn close), we are in a world where one must seek long and hard for truth, for some that journey is just not possible or probable. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said it best. That is why I started the post with his oh so wise words. The time is NOW! Put your WHITE Hat on and be the warrior (or gladiator) you were sent here to be. Blessings do not come to stay, blessings are MEANT to be given AWAY. Namaste Michelle
