This weekend is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s birthday celebration. It will be a week of protests for some and joyous anticipation for others. I am so glad Dr.King is not alive to see the america he fought against is still, alive, well and full of the hate that has held people of color down for centuries. While the haters know of nothing else, those of us who know better are required to be better and do more.
Please be mindful in your blissful ignorance that if you are white, you will not be affected as much as the huge community of people of color. Our people now have targets on their backs. From the police to the klan, we have been marked. So, while you are so delighted that there is much light being poured upon the planet, be aware that there will be pain – and that pain will not be inflicted upon you.
We are now in the darkness that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. advised was coming our way. It is here – it is hate, intolerance and ignorance. Do your part to ensure this phase does not last long and as many as possible get out on the other side. Get out as uplifted and enlightened humans – being.
Have a wonderful Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend. There is work to be done, so let’s get to work!
